Naturalism: showed stark side of life, typically of the lower class, slice of life, events should be showed in a time continuum. Heritage of Realism- By 1920s was in Europe- 1930s in America- Reshaped to satisfy middleclass sensibilities- Audiences expected plays to be realistic. Poetic Realism- 1904: in Ireland, Lady Gregory and John Synge created dramas with the peasant dialogue of Ireland. - Powerpoint Social Realism- Plays with a social conscious- During depression dramatists wanted to open the governments eyes to the results of unbridled capitalism.
