Identify the purposes of “Building Codes” in construction. Name and describe the key terms related to “Building Codes.” Set/Motivation : Place a picture with a guy holding a sign about inspectors Introduction : In the world the inspection process is very important for keeping everyone safe. The inspectors use a set of rules that have been adopted by the local government. They are called codes. Specifically in the construction realm they are building codes. Presentation of New Material: What is a Building Code? Principles and rules that govern the construction of building. Primarily designed to protect the consumer’s health and safety. Building Codes Uniform Building Code (UBC) Basic Building Code (BOCA) National Building Code Standard Building Code Who makes it code? Local government makes the code.
