Technology Education Roof and Truss systems Roof- Protects the house from the outside elements. It can also add a decorative feature to the house. Roof System-Supports the weight of the roof and anything on it. The traditional method uses a ridge board and rafters. Truss System- Used in place of the traditional system. It still supports the weight of the roof and anything on it. Pre-made trusses can cut down on install time because the bottom part of the structure works as the ceiling joist.
