Lab: The Molar Volume of a Gas Hypothesis: The purpose of this lab is to discover the standard molar volume of gas by reacting a mass of magnesium metal with hydrochloric acid to collect hydrogen gas over water. From Avogadro’s law and later from Cannizzaro, it is possible now to discover the masses of gas volumes by using this law by pplying the knowledge that the masses of the volume should be in the same ratio as its particles. By using the recent knowledge we have ascertained about Dalton’s law and much more, we predict that we will be able to discover the molar volume of a gas after acquiring some other vital measurements. Both the safety goggles and laboratory apron are worn. 2. The barometric pressure and room temperature are recorded in the data table. 3.
