Transitioning to College Life
As I was preparing to leave for college, I immediately thought to bring my
everyday necessities, such as my inhaler, medication, makeup, hair straightener, and
clothes. I knew to pack my favorite DVDs, as well as a DVD player, laptop, and printer.
However, I didn’t think of the other necessities that go unnoticed in my day-to-day life.
Luckily, my mom takes care of everything, and sent me off with tools to fix and hang
things around my room, bedding, printer paper, hangers, a laundry hamper, a lamp,
stationary, basic school supplies, as well as addresses of my friends and family so that I
could write to them. Most of the things I brought to college will prove useful for school,
but some, like the DVD player and DVDs, are purely for entertainment purposes.
The most important thing I brought is my laptop, which allows me to do my
homework in my room and communicate with professors and others, as well as my
printer, which, if I did not have, would prevent me from printing out homework and
