Astronomy 3 – Extra Credit Lab Visit to Grif f th Observatory In this lab you will go to Grif f th Observatory and write a short paper on your trip. It is more fun if you take friends. You will need a camera. Getting there. Information can be found at http://www.grif f on how to get to the Observatory. It is very busy on weekends. Planetarium . Do not necessarily expect to see a planetarium show: it is popular and f lls up fast. Show tickets may be purchased at the Observatory. If you are a Friend of the Observatory ($$) you may make reservations ahead of time. Weeknights and weekdays are probably better bets for seeing a show. When to go. They are open till 10 pm Tuesday through Sunday. There is a cafe. They sometimes have the telescope (12-inch) open for viewing, but you should call to see if and when this is available. Daytime trips are also good because the views of the Holly-

You can get as fancy as you want with this, but make sure I can see that you were there. (& I have pictures of you all on my roster, so I ± ll know if it is you.) Then write about a three page paper. You could include: the date and time of your visit, who went with you, what you saw, what you did, did you buy anything at the gift store, what was your favorite exhibit. Whatever you feel like writing so long as it includes (these are mandatory) 1) Who, 2) What, 3) When, 4) Where, and 5) Favorite exhibit. Writing those things, and including the photo, three pages should be easily done when you get back home, and you may want to write even more....
