Temperature Luminosity This diagram plots the Luminosity (y) as a function of Temperature (x) of many different kinds of stars. It is called a Hertzsprung- Russell Diagram . It tells us everything in one picture ! Normal hydrogen- burning stars reside on the main sequence of the H-R diagram 2 Stars with low temperature and high luminosity must have large radius (red giants), while hot stars with low luminosity must be small (white dwarfs).
