Megan Bartlett November 3, 2011 COM 431 Source Credibility: Zantrek-3 Advertisement This is an advertisement for Zantrek-3, a high energy fat burner weight loss supplement. The ad is claiming that celebrity, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of MTV’s hit series the Jersey Shore , uses this weight loss supplement for her battle with weight loss. The ad uses large bold words with the celebrity’s name to grab the attention of readers. My first thoughts about the ad were related to the extrinsic credibility or the initial credibility I have about Snooki. She has the reputation of a crazy party girl, who is known for getting arrested multiple times for public indecency and public intoxication. So, my immediate reaction to the ad was its lack of credibility. Then I proceeded to read into the ads intrinsic credibility, and realized it lacked even more credibility than I initially thought. The two main dimensions that make up what we perceive as the credibility of the course are trustworthiness and expertise. As I mentioned before, the character that is being used in this
