Dan Aiello Writing 205 Professor Cronin 6 February 2011 Three Methods In the article Closing the Achievement Gap by Detracking Carol Burris and Kevin Welner they talk about how schools can close the achievement gap by grouping lower level classes and higher level classes to make a homogenous mixture. Schools in long island started doing it and it increased the passing rate of the 9 th grade math regents to 90%. However other things besides this can also be done to reduce the education gap, like setting up parent involvement workshops. This could get the parents more involved in their Childs education and make that 90% a lot larger.
