Unformatted text preview: Blacksteam Knowledge: Genocide John Fiske Summary Due 2/27/2012 PART I: Fiske argues that there is a major difference in the way white media and black media portray blacks. Counterknowledge can be defined as misinformation that is packaged to look like fact, and this is what the media is doing when it comes to the black race. It has been argued that diseases such as AIDS was created to destroy blacks by those with white power. PART II: Chapter six of Media/Society dicusses social inequality and media representation. The three issues at hand are: inclusion, roles, and control (p. 190). The type of media that is presented to audiences is reflective of who it was produced by, and where (control), what race the characters are (roles), and whether or not inclusion of these different races occur or not.
