Nayef Jaber Period 6 2/1/2011 Questions: 1) Where did you find your political cartoon? This cartoon was found at http://www.politicalcartoons.com/cartoon/8397ca0d-5c45-45c6-8cf9- 1ee90a765079.html . It was created by the artist Christo Komarnitski on 1/31/2011. 2) What do you see in the picture? In this picture President Hosni Mubarak, of Egypt, has his face is on a sphinx and the Egyptian people are throwing stones at him. 3) Locate, list and explain words, phrases or symbols used by the cartoonist to identify objects, people and the meaning of the cartoon. The artist shows the pyramids and the sphinx to show that this is in Egypt. He has people throwing rocks at the sphinx showing that they are not happy with their leader. 4) Describe the action or “general message” taking place in the cartoon? The people are attacking the sphinx because it has the face of their current President. The people attacking it are not happy with him and don’t want him or any of his family to run again.

People like Mohamed El Baradei and his followers agree with this cartoon because they do not want the President to run for another term. The Presidents family friends and he don’t agree with the message the cartoon is trying to show they want him to have another term, 6) Do you think the political cartoon is meaningful and/or serves a general purpose? Explain why or why not with relation to class. This cartoon shows its purpose because the people are not happy with their current government and they want change. This cartoon relates to this class because whenever there was a leader that the people saw unfit to lead they rebelled and he was forced out of control. A new leader will step up and take his place to lead the people....
