To sell products, advertising companies spend millions of dollars to research its target audience, resulting in huge sales and profits for the company. Because advertising must appeal to the emotional rather than the rational side of consumers, advertisements are created to be culturally specific, making them different in each country. Advertisements in my country, China, differ from advertisements in America in a variety of ways, and further, advertisements, no matter in which country, use specific techniques to sell products. Generally, Chinese advertisements for products focus on family and tradition whereas advertisements for American products make fun of traditions and family.
