Undergraduate Careers in Entrepreneurship POSITION YOURSELF FOR SUCCESS Gain practical and specific experience related to the field in which you are interested in starting a business. Another option is to work for a start-up company to gain exposure to the inner workings of a new/young organization. Find a mentor and/or team up with a more experienced businessperson who can help you develop your ideas, write a business plan, connect you to other professionals and provide lessons learned on starting your own business venture. Network, network, network with other budding entrepreneurs and/or successful entrepreneurs through local organizations, meetings or events. Take risks . Note that success may mean taking risks so be open to roadblocks and failures and learn from those mistakes. Connect with the Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship & Commercialization (ITEC) here at SMG for help in writing your business plan, to meet fellow entrepreneurs and be aware of related events. Join organizations and attend events on- and off-campus related to entrepreneurship (i.e. BU Entrepreneurship Club, Mass Innovation Nights, Global Entrepreneurship Week).
