The samples are treatment and control and the variables are treatment with is categorical nominal and blood cholesterol level which is scale (quantitative continuous). b. You could run an independent samples t-test, a Wilcox-Mann Whitley test or compare confidence intervals. c. You could not use a directional test because you do not have prior knowledge to expect a drug effect of an increase of decrease in blood cholesterol level. d. I would run a Wilcox-Mann Whitley test because the boxplot shows that there is not equal variance (many outliers and different size IQR) and the histogram shows the distribution is not normal.
