San Antonio College BCIS1305 023 2012 Spring Course: Section: Term: COURSE CONTENT: Learning Outcome 1: The student will learn to use the World Wide Web for business purposes: Use a Web Browser. Carry out Web searches. Understand how the Web facilitates workplace collaboration. Recognize important Web security practices. Understand the structure of e-commerce. Perform basic Web site construction/management activities. Learning Outcome 2: The student will learn to use Presentation Graphics software (MS PowerPoint). Learning Outcome 3: The student will learn to use Spreadsheet software (MS Excel) for business activities: Perform basic spreadsheet construction. Develop formulas and use “built in” computational methods. Construct graphs. Learning Outcome 4: The student will learn to use Relational Database software (MS Access) for business record keeping: Build “related” data tables. Develop forms. Perform basic “queries.” Mastery of the Learning Outcomes will be measured by “hands-on” computer projects and online examinations. SCANS Competencies (Secretary of Commerce Assessment of Necessary Skills): C1 The syllabus requires students to achieve specific objectives according to timeliness establish by instructor. C2 One project requires the students to prepare a travel budget and chart budgeted travel cost an actual travel costs. C4 One project requires students to prepare a personnel evaluation form that be used in a business. C5 Students will work exercises and projects that require them to analyze and logically organize data.
