Now once all of the data was used in an attempt to find the molar mass of the solute and determine the identity of the unknown solute it was found that neither of the molar masses matched the ones that were given. This is due to a fault in the data, in some way the data was not accurate which ended up giving a molar mass that was way off from the givens. So although the purpose of this lab was to determine the unknown solutes identity this will be impossible due to inaccurate data collected. Along with learning how to determine a substances identity using the colligative property of freezing point, it was also learned that you absolutely need to have accurate data to enable yourself to find the exact identity of a solute....
