Introduction In this unit, you will learn some of the basics of writing two important business communications, reports and proposals. Two aspects that you will study are where to find the information for your reports and proposals, and how to organize that information once you have found it. Objectives By the time you have completed your work on this unit, you should be able to do the following: Describe principal types of reports and proposals commonly found in the workplace. Identify likely sources of information for reports and proposals. Organize your ideas and information logically to convey a strong message through a report or proposal.

2 Unit 6 ENGL 107 Business Communication Part 1 — Reports The term “report” can apply to many things. In fact, you could say that a report is any document that does the following: Records information. Organizes that information according to guidelines determined by the content or by the organization involved.
