Natives Neg Update DDI 2008 BQ    hansen Strategy Notes This file is obviously meant to supplement the other negative. Because of this, there are few “complete” frontlines. There is, however, a new critique I’ve entitled the Space K. It doesn’t have an alternative, so it’s probably more strategic to put it on case or make an AIS out of it. But what is this Kritik, you might be thinking to yourself. Well, a cross-x of the 1AC might look like this: 2N: Who do you give the incentives to? 1A: Native American tribes. 2N: All of them? 1A: Yes, but they don’t have to take them. Whoa!! Well, it looks like that essentialism K might not work out so well (or, maybe it still might), but in any case, my handy-dandy K will serve your purposes well. Is there such an entity as a ‘tribe’ culturally, historically or even spatially? My K brings all of those fundamental assumptions the Aff made into question. What if these are all colonial, homogenizing assumptions that lead to violence? Sounds pretty cool right? Well, it is a kritk. I don’t think it’s necessarily strategic to run essentialism and this K at the same time. I don’t think they actually turn each other, but it might make for a messy debate. Beyond that, I found some cards about why companies exploiting Natives is bad, and these would be lovely case turns. I did insert the Readiness DA, because I think it’s fundamentally better than the birds DA. The reason is that the Birds DA is fundamentally wrong – it is very possible to build the wind turbines out of their flight paths. 2
