1AC OUTLINE Plan: The United States federal government should reduce nearly all military presence necessary to pursue counterinsurgency in Afghanistan. HEGEMONY ADVANTAGE Stewart 9 - Large footprint means the united states moves more towards isolationist because it does not want to  bear the costs of the war- Boyle 10 - Large footprint and use of counterinsurgency gives international perception that U.S. is drawn in  Afghanistan and the U.S. is seen as diplomatically active, not militarily active. Welle 10 - The focus on Afghanistan sets a precedent as to how we deal with interventions in the future Boyle 10 - we become overfocused on winning hearts and minds, much more expensive, become involved in all  Alqueda states, makes American power impossible Dorronsoro 10 - Coin in Afghanistan costs too much, we are building a nation in the 2 nd  most underdeveloped  country in the world
