Individual Differences Individual differences are linked to people in terms of their personality and different types and traits as people are different in certain ways. Personality can be defined as the psychological qualities that influence an individual’s characteristic behavioural patterns, in a stable and distinctive manner ”. (Huczynski and Buchanan 2007) An organization would need to embrace their employees’ individual differences to allow them to succeed in terms of creating good employee relationships. Quoted in The Times by Harold McGraw, he believes that “ We are at our best when our employees work and thrive in a dynamic environment where inclusion is encouraged, differences are respected and diversity is paramount. Diverse ideas and backgrounds lend to a vital competitive edge for anticipating and exceeding our customers’ needs.” (The Times, 2006, “This Much I Know”, Career Public Agenda, 4.10.06, p. 15.)
