Direct Instruction Format Subject: Read-Aloud Class/Period : Kindergarten Date: Oct, 27 2010 LEARNER OUTCOMES : Lesson objective and sub-objectives: Students will be able to make predictions about the story with 100% accuracy. State Standard: Reading Strand 1: Reading Process Concept 6: Comprehension Strategies PO1: Make predictions based on title, cover, illustrations, and text. PO2: Derive meaning from books that are highly predictable, use repetitive syntax, and have linguistic redundancy. ANTICIPATORY SET : When students come in they will see a jack-o-latern on the smartboard. Students will gather around on the rug and will see the book Five Pesky Pumpkins set up on a table. I will begin by asking students why they think I have a pumpkin on the smartboard. They will respond by saying that Halloween is coming up. Then I will proceed to tell students that today we will be creating our own pumpkins after we read our story together. INSTRUCTIONAL INPUT
