10.19.07 Field Notes: Powell third grade “having two teachers is better than one – but I don’t like going back and forth” Overall, when I asked students whether they preferred having one teacher or two, they replied two. Although the “favorite teacher” varied among children, they all liked that when one of the two teachers was stern, the other was a good calming agent and mediated the situation. mumball – game for kids on ‘Great Job’ plate The disciplinary system employed by Teacher Joe and Teacher Sarah is the use of a paper plate hierarchy. Each child has a clothespin with their name on it; Every day, all of the clothespins begin on a paper plate pinned to the wall that reads “New Day”. Good behavior results in a child’s clip being “moved up” to a higher plate, reading “Great Job,” “Class Representative,” and at the very top, “Out of this world”.
