The World of Melodrama Melodrama - Not the most popular form of drama - 3 kinds of melodrama - The terms melodrama – nothing mellow about it - Good/wrong – not much ambiguity - Popular, escapist, sentimental o Not much intellectual dept because that’s not that its after o Immediate experience and emotional sensation o Characters get rewarded for good behavior o Good triumphs and evil in punished -> it is how we would like the world to be. - Comes in the 18 th century with rise of industrial revolution
