Core Training and Musculature The main focus of stabilization is to increase muscular endurance and stability while developing optimal communication between one’s nervous system and muscular system. o Only obtained by proper postural alignment and strength necessary to maintain that alignment. o Stabilize their joints, spine, and posture during activity Two methods include core training and balance training Core training: 85% of US adults experience low back pain and core training helps that and helps avoid injury and chronic pain. Core: lumbo-pelvic-hip complex which is the hips, pelvis and low back, thoracic and cervical spine(or middle and upper back). The body’s center of gravity is located and where all movement begins. Efficient core is necessary for maintaining proper muscle balance and function. o Muscles that make up the stabilization system are deep and close to the spine o Movement system muscles are superficial and easy to see Muscles of the stabilization system include: transverse obdominis, multifidus, internal oblique’s, diaphragm, and pelvic floor muscles Major muscles of movement system include: rectus abdominis, spinal erectors, external oblique’s, adductors, hamstrings and latissiumus dorsi Properly designed core training programs improve many component of funcions including: improves dynamic postural control, insures appropriate muscular
