Those who controlled large rice-, sugar-, and abaca-growing lands in Central Luzon, Batangas, parts ofthe Bikol region, Negros, and Panay profited themost.These included not only the Filipino hacenderos ofPampanga, Batangas, and Western Vlsayas, and thefriar orders owning the large haciendas of Bulacan,Laguna, and Cavite, but also the inquilinos of thefriar haciendas.
