Alexander Muhr PPD-227 Clara Irazabal December 8 th , 2005 Homework #3 “Real Estate Development and Communities of the Future” On October 6 th , 2005 we were treated with a panel of experts who discussed the future of the development of communities, in the Los Angeles are and beyond. The facilitator was Stuart A. Gabriel, who is the director of the LUSK Center for Real Estate at USC. The Panelists were Raphael Bostic, an associate professor in the SPPD and the director of the Master of Real Estate Development program. Randall W. Lewis was the final panelist, who is an executive vice president and director of marketing for Lewis Operating Corporation, which is involved in apartment, retail development, and master planning of communities in California. Mr. Gabriel began by drawing a graph on the board to give a sense of the macro view of the situation of the population density versus the distance between people: The y-axis is the Population Density per Square Mile.
