Spring 2012 1 IE 332 Computing in Industrial Engineering Lab 1: Facility Layout Design Using AutoCAD Instructions: You will be creating a facility layout for a manufacturing plant. There are three main objectives in this lab: ü Use basic drawing command (e.g., line and rectangle) to design the layout ü Apply color and hatch. Apply text and dimension on different layers ü Use the Modify toolbar, hotkeys and drawing aids (grid, snap, and osnap) ü Learn alternative useful functions available with AutoCAD ü One point extra credit to creative engineering design ideas Facilities Shapes Layers Receiving & Shipping Unit Rectangle (width 40’ x height 20’) logistics Raw Material Inventory Circle (radius 15’) logistics Office Rectangle (width 30’ x height 30’) admin Manufacturing Unit 1 Right Triangle (width 50’ x height 50’) mfg Manufacturing Unit 2 Right Triangle (width 70’ x height 80’) mfg Manufacturing Unit 3 Right Triangle (width 60’ x height 40’) mfg Special Chemical Storage Room
