The week 3 discussion continues our focus on APA documentation. Initial post due Wednesday by 11:59 pm Central Time: Read the sample paper on pages 343-352 of your text and answer the following questions: 1. Do you find summary, paraphrase, or direct quotation most effective when integrating sources? a. A summery is a brief statement that is focused on the main idea of the story, should be complete and objective. The paper on “Girl, Sports, and Steroids”, uses the writers own words to tee the ending to the main idea and the quote at the end only strengths her summary or conclusion. b. Paraphrasing is used to present material in an abstract or technical view. The writer did not go into actual research findings however reference were used to expound that research was conducted from incredible sources. The writer did not want to dive into adding all the technical information into the paper because it seemed it would pull the reader away from the main point. c.
