A habitat is just the physical setting and characteristics of a particular environment, while an ecological niche goes more in depth showing the relation of the sources available there and the inhabitants, and how they influence each other. B.2. Depending on the soil type, found in the landscape affects the suitability of species in that habitat. If the soil were more sandy, it would store less water than soils with an abundance of organic matter. Soil with higher organic matter release richer nutrients, which would entail a higher percentage of specie life in that habitat.
