Assignment #6 California Biomes 1. See loose leaf behind. Comparison of Ecosystems 2. Both kinds of ecosystems: evergreen coniferous forest and grassland have big differences in their characteristics, both climate-wise and physical-wise. Coniferous forests are taller in flora, while grassland keeps vegetation low, close to the floor. The carbon cycle amongst the two can vary greatly because of the different natures in each ecosystem. However they share a common aspect that one may notice of the two, which would be that both have one major plant that usually dominates the ecosystem’s flora. Climate Differences: Coniferous Forest (aka Needleleaf Forest) tends to stay in colder temperatures. Typically the forest is low in temperature and moderate in precipitation (300-900mm annually). (NASA) The climate all around is drier. Grasslands also typically have a dry setting as well, but can vary. Steppe grasslands are usually found in regions with semiarid continental climate, whereas Prairie grasslands are in the driest of
