Project 4 ACQUISITION RISK ANALYSIS2IntroductionPayPal is one of the largest financial services company in the world.PayPal has an extensiveplaying part in the e-Commerce world.Ecommerce refers to the buying and selling of goods andservices through electronic means such as on the internet platforms and now even for advancedwith a simple push of a button on our smartphone or other portable devices.PayPal was formedin 1998 by Paul Alto only as a subsidiary of eBay to assist in online money transfers.In 2002, itbecame a public offering with more than $1.5 billion in profits.The company has evolvedoffering various services across the globe, such as online payments and transferring of fundsamong individuals.Throughout the company’s history, it has experienced a fair share ofchallenges with several incidences of their customers losing their money.Some of thechallenges include, hacking and phishing of customer data.Mostly the challenges are due toCyber concerns and how to mitigate risks.PayPal APIs have been faulted for the severalinsecurities associated with their systems.The company has continued to grow and now canoffer its customers extensive services through online payments, donation platforms, internationaltransfers, and it has also incorporated mobile money transfer platform MPESA making it evenmore convenient for the users.So much of information technology continues to play a veryimportant part of our daily lives, however, it brings many serious security challenges.PayPalhas over 267 million active accounts as of 2018, with 9.9 Billion transactions by the end of 2018.A total of $578 billion was transacted over this platform during the period.Cybersecurity refersto the state of ensuring a system is protected against any form of malicious access that may resultin the loss of data or the destruction of property.PayPal being an e-commerce platform, it faces

PayPal provides a secureplatform to the customers in a manner that theycan transact with ease without fear of losses to their money or illegal access to their personalinformation that may put them at risk.
