Heaton Mitchell T. Heaton Father Basil Yender, OSB Honors Theology I 23 January 2009 William Foxwell Albright “History may be accurate, but archaeology is precise” (Scott). William Foxwell Albright dedicated his life to the science of archaeology in order to provide evidence for history. The history of W.F. Albright’s life dates back to 1891. Born in Coquimbo, Chile, W.F. Albright was the son of Protestant missionaries Wilbur Finley and Zephine Viola Foxwell Albright. Passionate about his studies, Albright traveled to America and attended Upper Iowa University. After completing his undergraduate, he attended the Oriental Seminary at Johns Hopkins University and received his Ph.D. in 1913. Albright is acknowledged as an expert archaeologist, biblical scholar, and an outstanding orientalist (William Albright - Archaeology Expert). Albright’s archaeological career is marked by various achievements and excavations. Notably, W.F. Albright confirmed the authenticity of the Dead Sea Scrolls and made the first
