FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS January 11, 2012 Administrative Questions Will we be following the order of the text or skipping? Is there any material we will cover outside of it? I will follow approximately the order of the text, although we will skip some material. I’m going to emphasize cosmology-related topics rather more than standard-astronomy-related topics, so emphasis will be rather towards the later chapters of the text. Yes, I may expand on some topics which are not in the text– in such cases I will provide or point you to appropriate material to read. If there are specific topics you are interested in, please tell me and I will see if they can be worked in. How do I know if my math background is good enough for the course? You could take a look through the text to see the general level. I expect basic calculus knowledge, some differential equations and maybe some linear algebra.
