William Seo 1 Frequency of Trips Made Home by GT Students Higher in In-State Students Compared to Out- of-State Students Section A07—Abhiram Das and Raghav Sharma I. Abstract The Georgia Tech community is comprised of both in-state and out-of-state students. We noticed a trend that in-state students made more frequent trips home as compared to their out-of- state counterparts. To test this hypothesis, the convenience sample (the class) was surveyed and the responses were tabulated and analyzed for significance using a t-test. The average trips made home in a semester by an in-state student was found to be 6.8 while the trips made home in a semester by an out-of-state student was found to be 1.875. By using a t-test, a p-value of 0.0025 was calculated, allowing us to reject the null hypothesis that there would be no difference in the frequency of trips made home, ultimately proving that in-state students do go home more often.
