Sarah Lowery History 102 Batham News Article: Cold War Veterans Urged to File for Property Tax Exemption http://www.wktv.com/news/local/37820489.html In Oneida County, near Utica, New York, Cold War veterans are eligible for a property tax exemption. The country granted the exemption late last year and veterans that have served between September 2, 1945 and December 26, 1991, are urged to file for this exemption. Spouses of ceased veterans (who did not remarry) are also eligible for the exemption. The county has an estimated 8,500 men and women eligible for the tax exemption. The Cold War lasted from the mid 1940’s to the early 1990’s, and most of it was expressed through military, industrial, and technological advances.
