Evaluating a Hiring Plan Assignment 2 – Evaluating a Hiring and Variable Pay Plan BY: Shaconda Peterson BUS 335 Instructor: Prof. Joyce Mayfield May 29, 2011 In reading the case “Evaluating a Hiring and Variable Pay Plan” in Chapter 12, I was able to learn a lot about Effective Management Solutions (EMS). They are a small rapidly growing management company. EMS has divided its practice into four areas; management systems, business process improvement, human resources, and quality improvement. They needed to hire a total of 100 new hire associates within the next year. One issue that EMS was having was that only 50% of the employment offers are accepted by potential employees. EMS realized that it current job offer practices need to needed revamped. In response to this Manuel Rodriguez put together a proposed hiring and variable pay program (HVP) to show to the partners at the next meeting.

Evaluating a Hiring Plan Assess the attractiveness of the HVP program for both applicants and those who receive offers, deciding for whom it would be the most attractive. In my opinion, these programs will be attractive to new and continuing employees. Under the proposed program the employee can choose between three different plans. The first is a high risk plan. Under this plan the starting salary is from 10% to 30 % below the market average and the participation in annual bonus plan with a bonus range from 0 to 60% of current salary.
