Unformatted text preview: color phenomena, Post-Impressionism is characterized by bright color, sharp, often outlined edges. The artists showed a greater concern for expression, structure and form than did the Impressionist artists. Some of the famous artists include Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, and Felix Vallotton. Modern Impressionism fused both styles together. Using bright colors as well as giving attention to detail with in the works. I myself prefer the modern style. I like being able to see the detail in the painting along with the bright colors. On artist that comes to mind is Edward H. Potthasts Rockbound Coast. This was painted on oil canvas and the painter gives a lot of detail to the rocks and the ocean. I almost feel as though I am standing at the top of the rock with the other people. Standing there watching the waves rushing against the rocks, smelling the fresh ocean and feeling at peace in that moment....
