You are the happy teacher in charge of teaching a group of students the greatness of statistics and you
give them a short exam to assess their knowledge of the subject after you impart your awesome
knowledge. However, you did not realize how hard it was to create an exam and you now want to
gauge how your class is doing—as you are worried you might have made the first test a little too hard.
The exam was scored 0 – 100.
Be sure to show work.
The following data are the scores of the
students on this test:
91, 99, 83, 99, 95, 76, 91, 90, 89, 88, 82, 85

Identify and justify what level of measurement you think you have here.
b.
Using the raw data, calculate three measures of central tendency.
c.
Discuss which measure you would report if you had to only report one measure.
d.
Assuming that this class is your entire population of interest, use the raw data and calculate the
variance and standard deviation and check your answers in excel (you should write out your
work and then copy and paste your excel output into your homework word document as well
