December 1, 2011 Globalization Globalization George Ritzer is the guy that thinks that as the world becomes globalized, there is a whole different way of doing things that all these different groups of people adopt. McDonald as a way of doing things is definitely a word that is brought up in the word globalization. V iolence is a huge component of globalization because not everyone is happy about globalization. The nature of conflict itself has changed fundamentally as a result of globalization because of whose fighting. This idea that things are moving around a lot more. In chapter 1, one word that comes up is this idea of liquids and the things are becoming more fluid and they flow. Things are also gaseous that you aren’t always sure of what they are going to do. Implicit in culture is identity. Identity itself is more fluid right now, which has to do with cultures and the movement of people across boarders. There are lots of different ways that things can flow. This idea that things are increasingly hard to tie down so people have to think if structures even matter anymore.
