Ryan Amann Dear Professor Smith, My name is Ryan Amann. My decision to come here, to the University of Maryland, was unanimous throughout my family. I had been accepted to both Rutgers and UPITT as well, but after visiting UMD we were sold. I love every aspect of this college and seeing myself potentially live here for the next four years seems like a blessing. The only thing I’m truly nervous about in college is the possibility of my relationship with my girlfriend dissipating. My girlfriend and I have been going out for 29 months, since our sophomore year in high school. She goes to Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and is also a freshman in college. We already have trust issues because we love each other so much, and the transition from seeing each other everyday to a sudden long-distance relationship has certainly taken a toll on us. If I had a say in the matter I would want her to transfer to UMD but I don’t see that happening in the near future.

Unformatted text preview: Im an extremely outgoing person; I always have been, and I greatly enjoy talking to people and learning about their beliefs and experiences. I love to play sports; Ive played hockey since I was five years old (although I started ice hockey when I was eleven years old) and I played three years of varsity in high school and spent one year as the captain of the team. I plan on playing on UMDs division two club team in the spring (freshman connection prevents me from playing in the fall). Aside from hockey Ive played four years of lacrosse, several years of baseball, and a year of tennis and football each. Overall Im a very athletic person and I pride myself on my athletic accomplishments. Im excited and anxious about my future but my acceptance and commitment to UMD seems to have given me a pretty great opportunity to better my future. I look forward to getting to know you and all of my classmates very well. Sincerely, Ryan Amann...
