Anthony Petrillo Honors English II Mrs. Roberts 25 January 2011 It was 1944. Private James Henderson, or Jim as his friends called him, was only 18 years old. He had just gotten out of training and had graduated high school not long before. Then, he was shipped off to Europe to fight the Germans. Now, he was sitting on the steps of a farmhouse in France. His team leader had been severely injured, and they had lost communications with the rest of the squad. Jim was now in charge, and he had to decide what to do. 5 hours earlier… “Check equipment!” “Standby!” “Go!” One by one, the squad left the plane. As they fell toward the drop zone, they wondered if this would be their last mission. For some of them it would be. The objective was to capture a Nazi officer with important information. He was hiding in a large farmhouse that had been turned into a large, heavily armed, fortified bunker. To help with stealth, the mission would be completed at night. Jimmy was with Bravo team.
