Anthony Petrillo 25 October 2010 World History 4 The High Price of Bullying in the U.S. Recently, youth violence has become a large problem at schools in the U.S. Apparently, bullying doesn’t just hurt people’s feelings; it also costs a lot of money: about 158 billion dollars. There is so much bullying going on, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, treats it as a public health issue. Bullying is also easier now because of the internet and cell phones. In some cases, people have committed suicide after being bullied. The author of this article, Cat Koo, seems unbiased for the most part; however, you can tell that she is concerned. I personally think that bullying is stupid, but I do not see it as a huge issue. Also, the only person who can stop the bullying from occurring is the person that is being bullied. You just have to not put up with it. The cases where people kill themselves over it are unfortunate,

In order to save these people, somebody would have had to recognize that there was an issue. That isnt really easy. These people dont usually seem mentally unstable at all. If they dont ask for help, it can be hard to tell that there is a problem. I myself dont really understand why people let it get to them. If somebody wastes their time picking on people, theyre just annoying and stupid, and wont get anywhere. The government is going too far trying to stop it, even making laws against insulting people.
