Anthony Petrillo World History IV 2 December 2010 Korean Uranium Enrichment It has been reported that North Korea has built an enrichment facility for uranium. Uranium can be enriched for nuclear power, and also to make weapons. Some people worry that they may be getting close to making weapons grade uranium. It is already believed that Korea have enough plutonium to make a half dozen plutonium bombs. It does not appear that they will stop. North Korea recently attacked South Korea, and probably will again. This gives us a larger reason to worry. I think that the last thing we need is for a communist country such as North Korea to get nuclear weapons. They don’t have the ability to launch missiles long range, yet, but once they get the nuclear warheads, they’ll begin spending all of their money on creating the missiles. It is only a matter of time before they will be capable of launching missiles

Unformatted text preview: at us and our allies. It is also a concern that they might give these weapons to other countries like Iran. I specifically remember the president of Iran saying that he wanted to erase the United States and Israel off of the face of the earth. We do not need crazy people like this having such powerful weapons in their hands. I wouldnt be surprised if Iran didnt care anything about mutual assured destruction, and just launched missiles at us as soon as they got them. Korea may say that they are trying to use the uranium for power, but it seems that their facilities are much larger than what they would need for that. It is obvious that they want nuclear weapons.
