Self-Assessment Exercise 1. How did your score compare to how you thought you might have scored before you completed this questionnaire? Were you surprised by scoring higher or lower than expected? When taking this self-assessment, I scored 36/40. I was not surprised to score high on emotional intelligence, I believe I have the ability to recognize, regulate, and influencing emotions. Greenberg splits up Emotional Intelligence (EI) into four forms; self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, and relationship management (Greenberg, 2010). There have been times during missions where we have been awake for a very long time, where I had to display confidence and recognize how my crew is feeling to make a decision. I will attempt not to show any negative emotions and display a positive presence at all times. 2. Do you think you are higher or lower than most other people when it comes to emotional intelligence? This is hard to answer; I like to think that I am in the ‘middle’ when it comes to emotional intelligence. My fiancé for example has a harder time to hide his emotions in comparison to me, however I know other people who have no problem with this at all. With myself, I keep my
