1. Besides new operating procedures, what other planned or unplanned changes would you suspect are responsible for the employees' negative responses or resistance to change? Since the employees were used to the set ways of Small Town S&L they will resist change simply because it brings them outside what they have been used to doing for many years. Switching to First National Mega bank is a very complex change, since it will attempt to change many levels of the company. Greenberg refers to this as a quantum change “ Quantum change refers to radical change, involving major shifts in different levels of the organization and different aspects of the business” (Greenberg, 2010). Management will have to be very careful to take their emotions into consideration to reduce resistance. There will be changes on many levels, most likely the branding of the bank such as interior and image. This can have negative responses by employees and customers. The company might also lose customers due to the simple fact that they liked a small local bank instead of a large corporation due to the fact it is more personal. This makes it important for the new manager to keep that personal level with customers if this is the case. 2.
