Health Databases and EHR Systems 2Healthcare Databases and EHR SystemsNow that the healthcare industry has been generally digitized, the switch from a paper information system has created an overwhelming plethora of healthcare data. And all that data needs to be stored in a place where the data can be more easily and efficiently stored and accessed - in healthcare databases (Cardon, 2014).The automation and standardization of healthcare processes have made extraordinary leaps, possibly attributed to databases and their applications. Security is an attribute of healthcare databases, wherein data can also be stored in a cloud or it can even be backed up to a separate, secure location, preventing loss of data. A database allows for more efficient processing of common transactions, including queries for things like labs or patient copayments.
