To me, art is like a mystery which is to be solved. I see an artwork as the concentration of an idea or concept into a physical entity. The idea or concept is rarely evident through just looking at piece. My recent visit to the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2011 opened up a world of possibilities to be expressed through the medium of drawing. There I saw Gary Lawrence's work 'View of Pothea' executed in ballpoint pen on paper. His composition and execution projected an esoteric and mystical discourse that really appealed to me. Other few draughts men that inform my mind are the fantasy of Richard doyle, and the strong presence of past present and future in gustave dore. I am interested in exploring the roles of an artist as practitioner, researcher and curator.

Unformatted text preview: I enjoy being creative and view Art as a natural way for me to express myself. I particularly enjoy drawing and how this allows me to create images in a way that I see them. I enjoy working in a figurative and detailed way and I aim to make my work expressive and visually interesting through tone and mark-making. In other media, Pina Bausch, the German performer and choreographer, expresses her freedom and confidence in all of her compositions. She has inspired me to push boundaries, to learn to study more than the obvious. Her strong presence on stage taught me so much in silence. My natural abilities and enthusiasm for art and expression through media have always been strong that supports my creativity....
