Elise Kim UNIV 100 11/29/2010 Journal At the beginning of this semester, I was afraid of not being able to make friends because of my shy nature. However, it didn’t take long to build friendships because of one floor-mate I met during the first week of college. She is a sophomore and introduced a lot of people around the University of Maryland. She also introduced me to a Christian club called, Navigators, and through it, I made a lot of friends. Because we spent a lot of time together, we currently call ourselves “family” and I am so grateful that I met them. Not only did I make friends, but also grow spiritually. The Navigators really opened my mind and heart and it makes me think about my purpose in life. The fact that I made friends and changed my spiritual life surprised me. I never thought I would join a Christian club and make many friends. In addition to making friends and growing spiritually, I have become more confident and independent.
