Kate-Lynn Tetreault February 24, 2008 ENG 110 Dr. Susan McHugh Essay 2 In elementary school students are taught that there is English class, art class, and music class. All of these classes incorporate art, but they are all taught in separate classes. I think that there would be a greater appreciation in a younger generation of people if they are taught that there are many different forms of art, and that these classes aren’t set up in such a way so that they think art is only paintings and such. If classes were titled differently I think that children would understand the many different forms of art, and there would be less ignorant people in the world. As the years progress those students eventually hit high school, and maybe college for some, and learn more about art. The poem entitled “Foreign” by Brittany Campbell can relate to a lot of college aged students, but it can also relate to a lot of immature adults. It relates to these groups of people because a lot of people who are this age just want to get out of the town they are in, and want to see the world. They think that where they are from is the worst place possible, and that there are much better places to be. However, a lot of the time they see that it was a mistake to leave so they try to go back to what they left. I can relate to this poem specifically because once I graduate college I want to be out of the northeast, and I
