As I read the materials and look around me my general sense is one similar to what you always heard from the donkey in Winnie the pooh. He was always seeing the negative and gloomy. This is not to understate the real problem but you must also look to solutions As you look at the possibilities of what you can do in the future, you must also look at what are the solutions for such situations that we will discuss today As Dale mentioned in the first lecture, it is real difficult to get people to change the way that the do things. Especially when you are telling an underdeveloped nation that they must not do certain things and must comply with an certain manufacturing standard in order to compete with those nations that already have it made. Somehow we must develop a simple message that will bring the value of preserving the ecosystems to the front and still allow for the development that is so desired by other nations. When someone makes a $1 a month and all they do is look for wood, water and food the message must be simple. This will not be an easy solution. There is a lot of inertia involved in heading in the direction we are going and to turn that around or even slow it down will take a huge concerted effort on the part of all concerned.

However, before we even look at solutions we must really look at who is telling us about the problems out there and measure how reliable their information is related to the situation. Before you even look at materials you must understand the organic basis for the organization that is putting out the information. Look at their mission statement.
